title : Railing on White Brick
I walk by this solid white-painted brick wall over a dozen times every other day, and it occurred to me today that maybe I should take a picture of it. I'm not sure why, really. It seems like nonsense, but this wall and railing are a representation of an in-between space, and in-between spaces have been filling my mind & time recently.
![]() This particular space is in-between the go between for the upside and downside of my work, and my work being the thing occupying most of my thoughts right now (school is boring at the moment, what can I say?). The upside is the store floor. This is the only space the customer ever sees, and most of them, assume exist. The downside is where everything that makes the upside run smoothly (or at all) happens, and is actually much larger than the upside. I constantly run up and down a flight of stairs between the up and downside most of the week. The customers have no idea that I do this, and most of my coworkers who do know that I do this, have no idea how much I think about this space. It connects everything going on here. This particular space on the wall, where the railing meets the wall at the top, catches my eye every single time I run and down. It draws my eyes, and I'm not sure why. But it does. So I took it's photo. |
